Ensure a safe and quality built environment. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the 2023 Tobacco License renewals. BACKGROUND: Tobacco licenses are valid from January 1 to December 31 of each year and are subject to annual renewal. The police department conducts annual compliance checks for all cigarette licensees. Prior Lake Tobacco and Vape failed a compliance check in December of 2022. There were no compliance check failures with the other tobacco license holders within the city. Prior Lake Tobacco and Vape was cited for the compliance failure and will pay the required fine as prescribed by State Statute. Attached to this agenda report is a list of the businesses requesting the renewal of their tobacco licenses. The Prior Lake Police Department has completed an investigation of the applicants to ensure that all requirements and issues concerning public safety and compliance have been met. Additionally, all applicants have provided the required documentation for this license. FINANCIAL IMPACT: All nine applicants have paid $255.00 each for their annual license fee bringing the total revenue for these licenses to $2,295.00.
