HomeMy WebLinkAbout06(E) - Resolution Accepting Bids and Award Contract for the CH 21 CH 87 170th Street Construction Project (CP 2020-29) ReportCITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT ITEM: 6E MEETING DATE: PREPARED BY: PRESENTED BY: AGENDA ITEM: February 27, 2023 Nick Monserud, Assistant City Engineer Andy Brotzler, Public Works Director/City Engineer Resolution Accepting Bids and Award Contract for the CH 21 CH 87 170th Street Construction Project (CP 2020-29) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt a resolution accepting bids and awarding the contract to Park Construction Company for the CH 21 CH 87 170th Street Construction project. BACKGROUND: On May 3, 2021, City Council authorized the preparation of plans and specifications for improvements at the intersection of CH 21, CH 87 (Revere Way), and 170th Street. Construction of the proposed improvements, previously scheduled for 2022 are now included in both the city and county's Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for construction in 2023. The improvements will include the following: •Realignment of 170th Street to Revere Way •Extension of Revere Way from CH 21 to 170th Street •Addition of raised center medians on CH 21 with eastbound and westbound turn lanes at Revere Way •Addition of right turn lanes on CH 21 at Revere Way, both eastbound and westbound •Construction of¾ access to Revere Way from CH 21 •Mill and overlay of CH 87 (Revere Way) from CH 21 to 180th Street On December 5, 2022, the City Council received the plans and specifications and authorized the advertisement for bids. The City received a total of ten (10) bids on February 2, 2023. The bids have been checked and tabulated. Park Construction Co. of Minneapolis, Minnesota submitted the low bid in the amount of $4,891,979.24. The low bid was 1.6% higher than the updated engineers estimate of $4,814,061.50. The project will be funded with Scott County funds, city funds and developer funds (assessment) as shown below: Improvement Coop. ALTERNATIVES: 1.Motion and second to adopt a resolution accepting bids and awarding the City's standardized construction contract to Park Construction Company for the CH 21 CH 87 170th Street Construction Project.
