RE: American Thunder Tenant Finish
South Lake Village
yeA #8318
LANDSCAPE
Dear Robert:
The following items in this correction letter are in direct response to your review letter
dated, June 10,2004:
1. The structural alterations were designed by a Structural Engineer registered in the
State of Minnesota, a letter certifying the design is attached.
2. Designlbuild Mechanical and Electrical plans will be submitted by the Owner.
3. In our opinion, the "M" occupancy designation is accurate. The retail showrooms
represent approximately 2,220 S.F., the offices only make up approximately 430
S.F. which makes them secondary to the showroom. To our knowledge, the
Owner is planning to continue selling retail items in the showrooms. If you do
not agree with this classification, please let us know.
4. Refer to revised plan and door schedule (copies attached) for the new door
information and room layout. The new door will be marked with 3" high letters
on the outside of the door to read: "Fire Suppression Riser Location." This work
will be performed as part of the shell building project by the building Owner's
General Contractor.
5. An approved Fire Department lock box will be installed adjacent to new door
#122 in a location to be approved by the Fire Marshall. This work will be
performed as part of the shell building project by the building Owner's General
Contractor. The General Contractor shall coordinate this item with the Fire
Marshall.
6. Fire extinguishers will be provided and installed by the Owner as required.
7. The counter design is by others. Information on the desk/counter area will be
provided by the Owner.
8. Door 100 as incorrectly shown to swing into the showroom on the floor plan.
This is a relocated door and frame, which currently swings outward. Thus, door
100 will swing outward.
Mr. Robert Hutchins
June 22, 2004
Page 2
9. Design/build plans for the HV AC system will be submitted by the Owner.
10. D.L. information for assembly X-528 (2 hr. rated beam protection) is attached. The
Contractor is to follow this assembly requirement in construction of this rated assembly.
11. U.L. information for assembly U-4l9 (2 hr. rated wall) is attached. The firestopping
material shall be Metacaulk 900 series as manufactured by RectorSeal Corporation or
similar product. The Contractor is to follow this assembly requirement in construction of
this rated assembly.
12. All penetrations will be firestopped in accordance with IBC Chapter 711.3.1.2. A copy
of this section has been forwarded to the Owner. The fire resistive joint systems is to
consist of extending 2 layers (min.) of 5/8" gyp. bd. 12" (min.) above the top of the bea
(onto existing CMU) and firestop the top edge. - Typical both sides of wall.
The intent of this letter is to address your review letter and to direct the Owner/Contractor on
required work to be performed.
Hopefully this letter has addressed all your concerns. Please feel free to call with any further
questions and/or comments. Thanks!
Sincerely,
BY ASSOCIATES

System Sensor's 13"" series smoke detectors represent a significant advancement In
conventional detection. The 13 family Is founded on three principles: Installation ease,
Intelligence, and Instant Inspection.
Installation ease. The i3 line redefines installation ease with its plug-in design.
This allows an installer to pre-wire the bases included with the heads. The large
wi,re entry port and in-line terminals provide ample room for neatly routing the
wiring inside the base. The base accommodates a variety of back box mount-
ing methods as well as direct mounting with drywall anchors. To complete
the installation, i3 heads plug-in to the base with a simple Stop-Drop 'N Lock
action.
Intelligence. i3 detectors offer a number of intelligent features to simplify
testing and maintenance. Drift compensation and smoothing algorithms are
standard with the i3 line, to minimize nuisance alarms. When connected to the
2W-MOD2 loop test/maintenance module, or a panel equipped with the i3
protocol, 2-wire i3 detectors are capable of generating a remote maintenance
signal when they are in need of cleaning. This signal is indicated via an LED
located at the module and the panel. To read the sensitivity of j3 detectors, the
SENS-RDR is a wireless device that displays the sensitivity in terms of percent
per foot obscuration.
Instant Inspection. The i3 series provides wide angle red and green LED indica-
tors for instant inspection of the detector condition, indicating: normal standby,
out-oF-sensitivity, alarm, or freeze trouble conditions. When connected to the
2W-MOD2 loop test/maintenance module or a panel with the j3 protocol,
the EZ Walk loop test feature is available on 2-wire j3 detectors. This feature
verifies the initiating loop wiring by providing LED status indication at each
detector.
Architect/Engineer Specifications
Smoke detector shall be a System Sensor
