CALL TO ORDER Mayor Briggs called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Present were Councilors Braid, Lake and Hellier. Absent: Churchill. Also in attendance were City Manager Wedel, Police Chief Duggen, Attorney David Kendall, and City Clerk Simon. 2. PUBLIC FORUM Elaine Mokwunye, 16532 Markley Lake Drive: Two concerns trying to understand better; First, member of Club Prior, discussion on changing hours so attendees can have more time together. Currently only Tuesdays and Thursdays 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Would like more hours. Second, concern is gifts and donations; what is the practice for gifts given to the city used at Club Prior? What happens with donations given to the city? Ralph Hollander: Issue with the Mediacom monopoly. Mediacom noted that the city approved of this monopoly and their services are very expensive. 11.4% of my monthly budget goes to pay for cable services. Would like to see additional cable and internet providers to provide equitable services for more affordable pricing. Amber Lundgren, 16517 Dutch Ave: Representative for Spring Brook Park neighborhood. Learned that 30-year window has closed and they would like to purchase/transfer of Outlet A to the neighborhood. Gave a brief history of the land and describe how the neighborhood takes care of the land and each other. City Manger Wedel: Response to Elaine; new introduction this year with a full-time recreation programmer expanding hours Monday through Thursday. As we plan for future, we will take that into consideration. In response to gifts, anything over $5 cannot be accepted. Donations and gifts do appear on the council agenda. Response to Ralph: Mediacom does not have a monopoly; they have a franchise agreement. The city is open to additional franchise options. Comcast will be approaching city council this year to add as an option for cable and internet. The city has also Nuvera as an option. Response to Amber: The city council has met about Springbook park and the dock access there and are working through the resolution of this item. No discussion has been had to date about the sale of this property. Will include your interest in the long term solution. 05 13 2025 City Council Meeting Minutes 3.
