CALL TO ORDER Mayor Briggs called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Present were Councilors Braid, Churchill, Lake and Hellier. Absent: None. Also in attendance were City Manager Wedel, Police Chief Duggen, Fire Chief Steinhaus, Public Works Director / City Engineer Monserud, Assistant City Engineer Schwarz, Assistant Finance Director Klekner, Attorney David Kendall, and City Clerk Simon. 2. PUBLIC FORUM Representative Ben Bakeberg: Represents Prior Lake and surrounding cities at the MN house of Representatives. Vice chair of education finance committee and middle school principal. 6 pillars being addressed in session- addressing Fraud in the state of Minnesota, make Minnesota affordable, continuing to make MN safe, taxpayer dollars working for Minnesota resident and building for the future of the infrastructure such as roads and bridge. The House Republicans wants the focus on critical infrastructure for the communities. The outlet channel and the boat ramps in prior lake raised standard and reduced mandates. See this all over Scoot County. Started the session with projected $72 billion statewide budget. The session ended with the largest reduction in spending in state history. Recognize Briggs and Wedel for work in ensuring Prior Lake to maintain local control. June 14th tragedy when political officials were assassinated in their homes. Publicly recognized Chief Duggan assured us we were safe, also played a critical role in the investigation. Wants to continue to bring common sense solutions to the community. Briggs: Been a pleasure to have this partnership. The community of Prior Lake relied on the for information. We are fortunate to have the Prior Lake Compass. Appreciates the meaningful work of freeing cities from the statutes that we made many years ago. Lake: Thanked representative for all the work on these issues. Felt a partnership with Mr. Bakeberg representing the city in St. Paul. Hellier: Appreciates the work in St. Paul especially the work with local zoning.
