BACKGROUND: The Fire Station 2 remodel project includes the following proposed changes to accommodate a future full-time staff at that location: • Conversion of existing office and storage spaces into four new residential dormitory rooms • Alteration of circulation at restroom/changing rooms along with new sinks and millwork • Addition of an exit and patio for the dayroom • Enclosure and protection of electrical service and equipment at the base of the hose tower • Alteration and upgrade of existing HVAC systems and controls CNH Architects, a member of the City’s consultant pool, has submitted a proposal in the amount of $46,000 to provide architectural services that include design, preparation of construction documents, and bidding/construction administration. Staff recommend approval of this work order so the design process can begin, which will allow staff to proceed with grant applications to help fund the project. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This project is not currently included in the CIP. Once the architect has completed the design and develops an estimated project cost, Fire Department staff will apply for grants to fund the project. The $46,000 cost for the work order will be paid from the following combination of funds: Account Description Amount 101-41940.00-54320.00 Facilities - Misc Expense $2,000 101-41940.00-54010.02 Facilities - Maintenance Agreements $20,000 440-41940.00-55520.00 CIP – Building Improvements $24,000 ALTERNATIVES: 1. Based on the mutual promises and covenants set forth herein, the sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, the City and Consultant agree as follows: 1. Scope of Work Order. AGREEMENT This Proposal for Architectural Services shall be under the Public Works Consultant Pool Master Agreement between CNH Architects and the City of Prior Lake. All terms listed in the Master Agreement apply except as modified herein. REIMBURSABLE EXPENSES Reimbursable expenses include the following items and will be billed as they occur: - Miscellaneous B&W and color printing at cost - Mileage, at IRS designated rate SCHEDULE A project schedule has not been determined at this time however the intent is to complete the work promptly to allow for use by firehouse staff.
