AGENDA ITEM: Approval of a New Massage Therapy License for Cordon Willis
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve a new Massage Therapy License for Cordon Willis.
BACKGROUND:
Massage therapists are required to be licensed in the City of Prior Lake if they are not working
directly under a state licensed practitioner such as a physical therapist or a chiropractor. The Prior
Lake Police Department has completed its investigation of this applicant to ensure that all issues
concerning public safety and compliance have been met.
Cordon Willis (12946 Nicollet Ave Burnsville, MN 55337) has applied for a massage therapy
license in order to practice massage therapy in Prior Lake.
He is anticipated to practice at Cordon Wellness, 16221 Main Ave SE in Prior Lake. Mr. Willis has
provided the city with the required proof of education and training. Massage therapy licenses are
issued on a calendar year basis, which would make this license valid until December 31, 2026, at
which time it would be subject to renewal along with all other licensed massage therapists in Prior
Lake.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Mr. Willis has paid the $200.00 investigation fee and a prorated annual license fee of $67.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Motion and second as part of the consent agenda to approve a new Massage Therapy
License for Cordon Willis.
2. Motion and second to remove this item from the consent agenda for additional
discussion.
