A RESOLUTION APPROVING A WORK ORDER FOR WELL 10 DESIGN AND
CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION (2027-03)

WHEREAS, the City of Prior Lake currently operates seven municipal wells for the
production of potable water for the Prior Lake community ; and
WHEREAS, one of those wells (Well 6) pumps directly to the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux
Community (SMSC) treatment plant where it is combined with SMSC water and
made available for distribution to both the SMSC and Prior Lake communities ;
and
WHEREAS, Prior Lake purchases roughly 300 million gallons of water from the SMSC
treatment plant each year to supplement the production from our own treatment
plant, with average annual demand in the city currently at 900 million gallons
per year; and
WHEREAS, another municpal well (Well 10) is proposed to be constructed in Prior Lake to
accommodate the increased demand that future development will bring to the
City and to maximize the production capacity of the City’s existing water
treatment plant; and
WHEREAS, AE2S, a member of the City’s consultant pool, has provided a proposal in the
amount of $398,300 to provide complete design, bidding administration and
construction administration services related to the construction of Well 10 and
the associated well house; and
WHEREAS, staff recommend approving this work order so the preliminary data -gathering
and design work for Well 10 can begin as soon as possible to accommodate
construction of the well and well house in 2028.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE,
MINNESOTA as follows:
1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein.
2. The City Council approves a work order with with AE2S in the amount of $398,300 for the
Well 10 design and construction administration.
3. The cost of this work order will be paid from the Trunk Water Fund.
