CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
NOVEMBER 6, 2006
SA
JANET RINGBERG, LICENSE CLERK
CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER
APPROVAL OF THE ISSUANCE OF AN ON-SALE INTOXICATING AND
SUNDAY LIQUOR LICENSE FOR THE LAKEHOUSE GRILL
Current Circumstances
On June 26, 2006 the City Council approved a 3.2 on-sale liquor license and
an on-sale wine license for Lakehouse Grill, located at 15750 Highway 13.
The owner, Stuart Erickson, would now like to offer a full bar to his patrons,
therefore he is applying for an on-sale intoxicating liquor license and Sunday
license. These licenses would be valid until June 30, 2007 when they would
be up for renewal.
Prior Lake City Code Section 301.503 provides that with respect to a liquor
license request, the City Council"... shall hear testimony from any person who
requests to be heard for or against the granting of the license. After the
investigation and hearing the Council shall, in its discretion, grant or deny the
issuance of the license." The purpose of tonight's public hearing is to consider
the issuance of an on-sale intoxicating liquor license for The Lakehouse Grill.
The Council should hear the staff report, open the public hearing to receive
testimony, close the public hearing and then take action on this request.
Mr. Erickson has paid the prorated license fee of $3,733.36 for the period
November 6,2006, to June 30,2007. Mr. Erickson has provided the City with
all required documents and has provided proof of liquor liability insurance. All
county taxes are current for 15750 Highway 13. The Prior Lake Police
Department has completed its investigation and has found no reason to deny
this license request.
The City Council has the following alternatives:
1. Adopt a motion approving the on-sale intoxicating and Sunday liquor
licenses if no additional information is provided from the public hearing.
2. Deny the liquor license requests.
Staff recommends Council approve an on-sale intoxicating and Sunday liquor
lice~e for The Lakehouse Grill.
