APPROVING THE METROPOLITAN ENVIRONMENTAL PARTNERSHIP GRANT
AGREEMENT WITH THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL FOR DOWNTOWN RAINWATER GARDENS,
CITY PROJECT #02-08
MOTION BY: LEMAIR SECOND BY: BLOMBERG
WHEREAS, the City of Prior Lake has plans to redevelop the downtown area; and
WHEREAS, as part of redevelopment the City wants to improve the quality of downtown runoff water;
and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council has established the Metropolitan Environmental Partnership
(MEP) Grant Program which provides grants to implement and evaluate projects
designed to address nonpoint source pollution problems; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council has approved a MEP Program Grant in the amount of $75,000
to design and construct downtown rainwater gardens; and
WHEREAS, the remainder of the estimated project cost of $125,400 is proposed to be paid from the
City's Water Quality fund ($48,400) and funds approved by the Prior Lake- Spring Lake
Watershed District ($2,000); and
WHEREAS, the City's 2020 Vision and Strategic Plan identifies the surface water management plan
as the number one natural resource priority.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA,
THAT:
1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein.
2. The Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized to enter into the Metropolitan Environmental
Partnership Grant Agreement between the Metropolitan Council and the City of Prior Lake for
the Downtown Rainwater Garden Project in the amount of $75,000.
