The resolution is one of the requirements of the grant application. BACKGROUND: The Natural and Scenic Area Grant which the City would be applying for is an effort to seek financial assistance to acquire and preserve the 15.75 acres of land which is currently owned by John and Meda Kop. (The grant application criteria require that this project be identified). At the City Council worksession which was held on January 12th staff informed the Council of their intentions to apply for grant assistance and the Council reacted favorably. At this same worksession the City Council advised staff, that if we cannot come to a mutual agreement for the purchase of this property that we should back out of the deal and condemn the portion of the property that is needed for the roadway. If this is the case we would then retract our grant application and ask that the D.N.R. assist us with the acquisition of property which would be needed for a roadway. As part of the grant application it is necessary to conduct a public hearing. The public hearing was conducted by the Parks Advisory Committee at 6:30 p.m. on March 9, 1998 at the Maintenance Center. One resident attended the public hearing and supported the idea of the city acquiring the farm property. The resident also stated that he was in favor of the 16200 Eagle Creek Ave. S.E., Prior Lake, Minnesota 55372-1714 / Ph. One resident attended the public hearing and supported the idea of the city acquiring the farm property.
