EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DEPUTY DIRECTOR

At the July 6, 1998 City Council meeting Mayor Mader indicated that
he had received correspondence regarding the City of Prior Lake's
need to appoint an Emergency Management Deputy Director. Staff
was directed to bring this item back for City Council consideration.
Current Circumstances
Prior Lake's Emergency Management Director is Police Chief Bill
O'Rourke. The position of Deputy Director has never been officially
appointed, however, Police Sergeant Rob Boe has been acting in that
capacity for some time.
Sergeant Boe has been with the City of Prior Lake for 20 years. He
has experience working with the Scott County Emergency
Management personnel as well as Federal Officials. In fact, Sergeant
Boe has been instrumental in solidifying Federal Disaster funds
through FEMA for both this year's storm related damages as well as
the storms of 1996.
1. Approve the appointment as recommended by staff.
2. Table this item for a specific reason and provide direction to staff.
Staff recommends Alternative #1 to approve, as part of the Consent
Agenda, the appointment of Police Sergeant Rob Boe as the
Emergency Managem7.t Deputy Director for the City of Prior Lake.
