PRESENTATION - DONATION FROM PRIOR LAKE
OPTIMIST CLUB - JERRY YOUNG
The Prior Lake Optimist Club was chartered in Prior Lake in 1978.
The club just recently celebrated 20 years of Optimism in Prior Lake at
their annual awards and installation banquet. The mission of the
Optimist Club is "Friends ofY outh". Since the Club's initiation, the
Optimists have been instrumental in assisting Prior Lake Youth
through scholarships and other endeavors. Past donations specific to
the City of Prior Lake have included the following: $1,000 annually to
the Parks and Recreation Department for youth program scholarships
and $1,000 annually to the Fire Department for the annual Safety
Camp.
This year, in addition to the above donations, the Optimist Club has
elected to make another significant contribution to the City of Prior
Lake to fund youth programs and various Parks and Recreation
projects. This donation will be deposited in the Capital Park Fund and
be used to fund the programs / projects mutually agreed upon by Parks
and Recreation Director Hokeness and the Prior Lake Optimist Club.
A list of ideas is attached to this report.
Jerry Young, this year's Optimist Club President, will give a brief
presentation explaining the contribution and its intended use.
