HomeMy WebLinkAbout5D - Pike Lake Trail Construction STAFF AGENDA REPORT AGENDA #: PREPARED BY: DATE: 50 GREG ILKKA, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER CONSIDER TABLING APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 TO THE CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF PIKE LAKE TRAIL TO ELIMINATE A RETAINING WALL UNTIL APRIL 20, 1998. APRIL 6, 1998 SUBJECT: BACKGROUND: At the March 16th City Council meeting this issue was tabled until April 6, 1998. The purpose was to revisit with the contractor the amount of overhead recovery he was claiming for the deletion of the retaining wall. Staff has discussed this with the contractor and as of this writing has not resolved this issue with the Contractor. Staff will continue to work this issue. If we are unable to come to terms we will present the Change Order for approval without the overhead recovery at the April 20th meeting and advise the contractor to file a claim to recover the overhead. ALTERNATIVES: There are two alternatives for the City Council to consider: 1. Approve tabling of Change Order NO.1 to Pike Lake Trail to eliminate a retaining wall. 2. Deny this item and provide staff with direction. RECOMMENDATION: Alternative No. 1 ACTION REQUIRED: ve recommended alternative.
