Historv At its May 18 meeting, the City Council directed that staff publish a notice in the Prior Lake American indicating two openings on the Planning Commission. The attached notice was published in the Prior Lake American on Saturday, May 30 and Saturday, June 6. The City received no new applicants for the two vacancies. Current Circumstances Planning Commissioners are appointed for two year terms. Anthony Stamson has served on the Planning Commission since June, 1996. His current term expires June, 1998. His term limit is June, 2002. He has expressed interest in continuing as a member ofthe Planning Commission for another term. Dick Kuykendall has served on the Planning Commission since March, 1994. His current term expires July, 1998. His term limit is July, 2000. He has expressed interest in continuing as a member of the Planning Commission for another term. The Issues Council should determine whether it wishes to reappoint the two members of the Planning Commission or publish an additional public notice of vacancies. Conclusion The notice was published two consecutive weeks in the Prior Lake American. The City received no new applicants for the two vacancies. I:\COUNCIL\AGENDA \PCAPP76.DOCKirsten Oden ~ PLANNING COMMISSION SEEKS HELP The City of Prior Lake is seeking applications from residents interested in filling two vacancies on the Planning Commission. Terms are two years. The Planning Commission considers development petitions and makes recommendations to the City Council. The body meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month requiring 10 to 40 hours of volunteer time per month, including special meetings and workshops. Members are expected to prepare and participate in commission proceedings and attend no less than 75 % of the meetings. Members receive a per diem of $40 per meeting. The appointment date is July 6, 1998. For an application, contact City Hall at 447-4230. Applications must be received by Friday, June 12th. ADVBAD.DOC
