Historv The City Council previously declared a 1970 and 1975 fire pumper as surplus for the City's needs. Bids were solicited for the sale of each piece of equipment. Upon reviewing the bids, the City Council concluded that it would be most appropriate to consider disposal of this equipment through donation, preferably to another Scott County municipali ty. Current Circumstances Fire Chief Dave Chromy has spoken with representatives of the City of New Market. They are delighted that the City of Prior Lake has offered the two trucks to them as donations. The two pieces of equipment will enhance New Market's ability to meet its day to day firefighting responsibilities. Representatives ofthe New Market City Council and New Market volunteer Fire Department will be present at the City Council meeting to receive a ceremonial presentation of the keys to each vehicle and to express their gratitude to the Prior Lake City Council. Issues Since the City has declared the equipment surplus to its needs and has rejected the bids for sale of the equipment, all necessary steps have been taken to allow for the donation of this equipment to the City of New Market. Conclusion The residents of Prior Lake are benefited by this donation because these two additional pieces of equipment help the New Market Fire Department to better serve its residents. In doing so, there is less likelihood of a call to Prior Lake by the City of New Market for assistance, and in the event that the City of Prior Lake requires New Market assistance, they are now equipped to provide it with 16200~NA6ER\ooNEiA~ookeDMmcinWD<5&1l72-1714 / Ph. RECOMMENDATION: The City Council should ceremonially bestow the keys to the 1970 and 1975 fire pumper trucks to representatives ofthe City of New Market as contemplated in your original direction.
