RESOLUTION 06-220
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF AN AERIAL PLATFORM FIRE TRUCK

WHEREAS, The City of Prior Lake has grown in terms of the number of people and buildings in
the community; and
WHEREAS, Buildings in Prior Lake have grown larger and more difficult to access for firefighting
purposes; and
WHEREAS, The City owns a 1985 LaFrance Aerial Ladder Truck which is undependable and
lacks the safety, rescue and fire fighting features of aerial platform trucks; and
WHEREAS, The existing ladder truck was to be replaced in 2002 and was delayed until this year
to become part of the Fire and Safety Referendum; and
WHEREAS, The staff has prepared plans and specifications, sent them to articulated aerial
platform manufactures and received bids; and
WHEREAS, The bids received are as follows:

WHEREAS, The Fire Department Truck Committee has evaluated the 100-foot demo #131772
bid in the amount of $900,000 and found that in order to make this bid conform with
the plans and specifications an additional $25,500 in parts and equipment must be
added; and
WHEREAS, With the addition of the parts and equipment, the total cost is $925,500 which is the
lowest responsible bid.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE,
MINNESOTA as follows:
1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein.

2. The E-One bid in the amount of $925,500 Demo #131772 which includes the cost of the
equipment specified in the E-One letter dated December 12, 2006, is deemed to be the
lowest responsible bid.
3. The funds for this acquisition shall be drawn from the Fire and Safety Referendum.
4. The staff is authorized to participate in the manufacturer demonstration program in
exchange for price reductions of $2,500 per month.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 18th DAY OF DECEMBER 2006.
