History On November 20, 2006, the City Council approved a contract agreement with Mark J. Traut Wells, Inc. for completion of Well #9 in the amount of $315,119, with an additional casing option in the amount of $54,600 if necessary to complete the drilling through the soft Jordan sandstone formation. Current Circumstances Traut Wells, Inc. has completed the drilling with the additional casing option, along with grouting and sealing of the Jordan aquifer and pump testing of Well #9. City staff is working to connect Well #9 to the pump control building and the chemical feed. Conclusion This Franconia Ironton Galesville (FIG) has been tested to produce 500 gallons per minute. AE2S has provided specifications for the necessary equipment and installation of a 500 gpm pump for Well #9. It is estimated that the pump, including installation will be approximately $35,000. Authorization to solicit quotes for Well #9 pump and installation will allow staff to bring Well #9 into production by the middle of June, prior to the City's historical peak pumping periods of July and August. This will help offset some of the limitations on the City's water supply. Funding for Wells #8 and #9 is solely provided by development fees from the City's Trunk Water Acreage charge. The need for these wells is a result of new development and therefore funding is 100% development derived. The funding for completion of this well and the balance of the project is available in the Trunk Fund. 1. Approve a resolution authorizing staff to obtain quotes for Well #9 pump and installation. 2. Table this agenda item for a specific reason. 3. Deny this agenda item for a specific reason and provide staff with direction.
