CONSIDER APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION 90-31 RESOLUTION OF
COOPERATION AND SUPPORT BETWEEN ISD SCHOOL DISTRICT
#719 AND CITY OF PRIOR LAKE

INTRODUCTION: The ~urpose of this item is to consider the
adopt1on of Resolution 90-31 a Resolution of
cooperation and Support between the City of Prior
Lake and Independent School District #719. A draft
of this Resolution was initially considered at the
School Board/City Council workshop on June 20,
1990. A general consensus of all participants was
to have a specific resolution on the formal Council
(and School Board) agenda for approval.
The adoption of a resolution of cooperation and
support has three primary purposes:

for both elected "boards" on the importance of
cooperating and supporting one another.

3. To provide a good framework for a public
notice or announcement.
It is important that ~he City Council and School
Board work together 1n the future to plan and
organize, not only services but long range needs,
including ca~ital ex~enditures and financial
planning. Th1S resolut1on is one small step in
that direction. In addition, city Manager Unmacht
and Superintendent Sonnabend are meeting to outline
the framework for the Working Committee which was
also discussed at the workshop. The substance of
the Working Committee will be presented to the City
Council at a future date.
ALTERNATIVES: The alternatives are as follows:
1. Adopt Resolution 90-31 as prepared by
staff.

AND THE CITY OF PRIOR LAKE

WHEREAS, Prior Lake/Savage Independent School District #719 (ISD
719) and the City of Prior Lake provide service to the
residents of Prior Lake; and
WHEREAS, although the services provided by each entity are quite
different, there are some similarities and areas of
commonality; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Prior lake are concerned about
tax and spending levels and concerned about
duplication of services; and

Council reco9nize the importance of mutual

participation of citizens and community-wide
organizations in their long range planning and program

WHEREAS, both entities strive to work together for the benefit of
all Prior Lake residents.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF
PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA and by the SCHOOL BOARD of ISD 719 that:

Each organization will work to develop an earnest spirit
of cooperation between all elected officials and
appointed employees; and
2)
The staffs of each respective organization are
to work together to insure the cost efficient
