KAY SCHMUDLACH, ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
PRESENT HIGHWAY 13 TASK FORCE SAFETY
POSTER CONTEST AWARD WINNERS
DECEMBER 3, 1990
In July of 1987 the city of Prior Lake
authorized the formation of a Highway 13 Task
Force to study safety issues concerning
Highway 13. The Highway 13 Task Force has had
many successes in the last 2 1/2 years and
continues to work toward the improvement of
Highway 13.
Chairperson Marge Gleason will be presenting
an update for the city council on Highway 13
issues. In addition, the winners of the
Highway 13 Safety poster Contest have been
selected and the Task Force would appreciate
the City Council's assistance in acknowledging
the youth.
Since its inception, the Highway 13 Task Force
has become an aggressive voice for Highway 13
improvements. The Task Force has been asked
to participate in many regional and state
transportation organlzations, and is
frequently referenced as an example of a
community rallying behind an important cause.
The great part1cipation between the City and
the Task Force has not only received praise
from our legislators and State MNDOT
officials, but has provided the necessary
teamwork for the successes Ms. Gleason will be
addressing.
The Highway 13 Task Force Steering committee
contains a membership of six, who meet monthly
to work on their 1990 Work Program. One of
the 1990 activities is the Safety poster
contest. In 1990, grades K-6 of all Prior
Lake public and private schools participated.
