HomeMy WebLinkAbout5 - Cert. of Appreciation To Linda Blaisdell & Jim Hill AGENDA NUMBER: PREPARED BY: SUBJECT: DATE: INTRODUCTION: BACKGROUND: CENSUS '90 . 5 KAY SCHMUDLACH, ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER PRESENT CERTIFICATES OF APPRECIATION TO LINDA BLAISDELL AND JIM HILL FEBRUARY 20, 1990 Linda Blaisdell and Jim Hill have recently changed their roles in the Economic Develo~ment Committee and are deserving of appreclation for their past activities with the Economic Development Committee. Linda Blaisdell has notified the City that she must resign from the Economic Development Committee because of other community and family commitments. Mr. Hill has completed his Chairman position after serving in the position close to seven years. Linda Blaisdell ~oined the Economic Development Committee 1n 1987 and has been a very active member of the Star city/Promotions Subcommittee and the full Economic Development Committee. Linda was instrumental in completing major components of the Star City Program such as the "Share Our Vision" visual presentation and the Five Year Work Plan and One Year Strategy for economic development. Mr. Hill has been a dedicated member of the Economic Development Committee. His work has lead the Committee through manr activities over the past eight years from 1nception of the Committee up to and including the Prior Lake 2000 Report, the Economic Development Committee's "Strategies for the Future" document and the Star City Certification process. 4629 Dakota St. S.E., Prior Lake, Minnesota 55372 / Ph. (612) 447-4230 / Fax (612) 447-4245 DISCUSSION: The city of Prior Lake and the Economic Development Committee's role is continuing to grow and mature. With the growth has come a demand for increased participation by the local citizens serving on City committees such as the Economic Development Committee. The Committee has benefitted by the great contributions from individuals like Linda Blaisdell and Jim Hill, and will miss their contributions in their respective roles. Mr. Hill will continue to serve on the Economic Development Committee as a member of the Business Development Subcommittee. The Economic Development Committee, staff and Council wish to thank Mrs. Blaisdell and Mr. Hill and honor them by giving them a plaque of appreciation. RECOMMENDATION: staff and the Economic Development Committee recommend the Citr Council honor Linda Blaisdell and Jim Hlll for their time, talent and effort toward making Prior Lake a better community. ACTION NECESSARY: The Mayor should make the presentation of the awards.
