Mayor Lee Andren
City of Prior Lake
4629 Dakota Street
Prior Lake, MN 55372
Dear Lee:
I understand that my name was used recently at a Council
meeting as one who had signed a petition against a certain
proposed park development. The way the issue was presented to
me is that it would be funded based on a "franchise" fee on
our utilities bill and as such would be a very regressive tax
to low income people. It was in this context that I signed
the petition. In no way did I consider my signing the
petition to indicate any lack confidence in our mayor and city
council!
You, the council and our entire city administration work very
hard to serve this community. You should all take great pride
in your openness, receptivity, and your commitment to serve!
All of the citizens of the community should treat you with the
utmost respect and appreciation for the job you are doing.
I guess we are never done learning! I have learned a good
lesson, not to sign petitions unless I know clearly the issues
involved and the context in which the petition will be
presented. In hindsight, I clearly should not have signed the
petition, but rather given you a call or sent you a note to
get a broader perspective on the issue involved.
Please pass these comments on to Dave Unmacht and the ci ty
council.
good work!
