CONSIDER APPROVAL OF ELECTION JUDGE
APPOINTMENTS FOR 1993 FIRE REFERENDUM
MAY 17, 1993
INTRODUCTION:
The City will be conducting a special election
on Tuesday, June 22, 1993 to consider a public
referendum for the approval and construction
of a new main fire station. The City Council
is re9Uired to authorize the appointment of
electlon judges to conduct the election day
activities.
BACKGROUND:
On 5/3/93 the Council approved Resolution
93-24 establishing the election date, maximum
bond issue amount and ballot question. Staff
subsequently notified, by mail, the Scott
County Auditor's Office on May 5th to satisfy
the 45 day advance notification requirement.
This will be the second year of the
implementation of the new redistricting plan
which increased the number of election
precincts from three to five. This time around
the public should be fairly familiar with the
new alignment.
The assigned polling places for the five
precincts are located respectively as follows

Total registered voter count is presently at
7,439. Each precinct will be staffed with 4
election judges. within the precincts, there
is relatlve party balance as required by
election law.

RECOMMENDATION:
ACTION REQUIRED:
The polls shall be open from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00
P.M. The judges will report to their
appropriate precinct location one hour prior
to the polls opening for set-up preparation.
As in past years, the judges shall be paid
$5.00 per hour.
Attached is a list of election judges
indicated by precinct. staff has contacted the
judges and each has expressed interest in
serving in this year's special June election.
Staff would recommend approval of those judges
submitted.
Motion to approve as part of the consent
agenda is in order.
