CONSIDER APPROVAL OF POLICE COMPUTER SYSTEM BID
AUGUST 2,1993
The purpose for this agenda item is to consider Council approval of the
lowest responsible bid for the purchase of a personal computer base
system for use by the Prior Lake Police Department.
It is essential from the Police Department perspective to be able to access,
receive and process infonnation on an interactive basis with the State of
Minnesota. In order to achieve such an effective infonnation transfer, it
was necessary to acquire a compatible computer system.
Total cost consisting of hardware, software and data conversion was
estimated at approximately $30,000.00. The Council appropriated the
necessary funds within the data processing portion of the 1993 operating
budget for approximately $10,000 of the hardware, the conversion costs
and software package known as "LEADRS". The remaining portion for the
hardware acquisition was scheduled to be funded by lease purchase
financing.
The configuration of the computer system is dependent upon the
utilization of a personal computer network that incorporates the following
equipment:
. 1 Mini-Tower 486DX/50 MHZ network server
. 1 3.11 Novell system network
. 9 486SX Minitower personal computers
