SUBJECT: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF SALE OF CITY VEHICLES
DATE: DECEMBER 20,1993
INTRODUCTION:
The City advertised for public sale of two 1990 Chevrolet Caprices.
Originally these vehicles were placed into service as police squad cars.
Since then, they have been retained for use by both the Building
Inspection and Engineering departments for purposes of field inspection.
These vehicles have in excess of 63,000 and 71,000 miles respectively and
are scheduled to be replaced in early spring when replacement squads are
purchased.
Sealed bids were solicited for the disposition of these vehicles as
authorized by City Code. Staff is requesting Council approval of the
highest price offer.
DISCUSSION:
The City opened bids at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday morning December
15, 1993. The following bids were received:

Each bid submission was accompanied by a certified check in the full
amount offered.
ALTERNATIVES:
The following alternatives are available to the City Council:
1. Approve the high bid for each vehicle.
2. Reject all bids and re-advertise to obtain a more favorable
sale amount.

RECOMMENDATION: Staff would recommend awarding the sale of the 1990 (#1) Chevrolet
Caprice to Metro Transport as the highest bidder in the amount of
$2,957.00 and the second Caprice (#2) to Crown Motors Inc. in the
amount of $2,859.00
The bids submitted are similar to past sales by the City for comparable
model years, mileage consideration and condition of the individual
vehicles.
ACTION REQUIRED: A motion to approve the sale for the 1990 Chevrolet Caprice (#1) to Metro
Transport and the 1990 Caprice (#2) to Crown Motors Inc. for their
respective bid amounts as part of the consent agenda would be in order.
