Commission ., CONSENT #: PREPARED BY: SUBJECT: DATE: BACKGROUND: DISCUSSION: ISSUES: STAFF AGENDA REPORT (e) FRANK BOYLES, CITY MANAGER CONSIDER APPOINTMENTS TO PLANNING COMMISSION AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE OCTOBER 4,1993 The City Council has one vacancy on the Planning Commission and two vacancies on the Economic Development Committee. Over the last few months we have been soliciting applications from individuals who may be interested in serving on City advisory bodies. Interviews have been completed and the appointments shown below are recommended for City Council approval. On September 27, in accordance with City Council direction, a committee consisting of Mayor Andren, Chuck Arnold, Planning Commission Chair, Oar Fosse, representing the Economic Development Committee, and myself interviewed seven candidates for one Planning Commission and two Economic Development Committee openings. The candidates possessed a variety of background and experience which would be beneficial to our advisory bodies. There was a consensus that we had received applications from a number of very highly qualified individuals. After conducting the interviews, the committee is making the following recommendations: 1. Appoint Thomas Von Hof to the Planning Commission to fill vacancy left by the resignation of Dave Wuellner scheduled to expire on June 1, 1994. Tom would be eligible for reappointment to a full term at that time. 2. Appoint Larry Greenfield and Wesley Mader to the Economic Development Committee to serve three year terms expiring July 1, 1996. Resumes for each of the appointees are attached. Vacancies have existed both on the Planning Commission and Economic Development Committee for some months now and should be filled as soon as possible. -1- 4629 Dakota S1.
