Home My WebLink About6A - Presentation to Retiring Board & Commission Members MEETING DATE: AGENDA #: PREPARED BY: AGENDA ITEM: CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT December 20, 1999 ~ 6A C\.l\.y Frank Boyles, City Manager ~ PRESENTATION OF PLAQUES ACKNOWLEDGING SERVICE TO THE CITY OF PRIOR LAKE FOR RETIRING BOARD AND COMMISSION MEMBERS, CITY COUNCILMEMBER TOM KEDROWSKI AND COUNCILMEMBER DAVE WUELLNER, AND POLICE OFFICER DENNIS LEFF. PRESENTATION: The Mayor will be making presentations to various individuals who will be retiring at the end of this year: Board and Commission Members Lake Advisory Committee: Former City Council member Doug Larson and Tom Kearney are retiring from the Lake Advisory Committee. Doug served five years as an LAC member from 1994 - 1999. Tom was a member from 1995 - 1999 and served as the Committe Chair for 1998 and 1999. During their tenures, the Lake Advisory Committee considered very significant and controversial issues including (1) lake access study, (2) surface water management ordinance, and (3) comprehensive lake management plan. Each of these gentlemen have provided leadership to the Committee during their years of service. Park Advisory Committee: Bob Rykken has served on the Park Advisory Committee since 1993. Tom Reddinger served from 1995 - 1999. Tom has also been president of P.L.A.Y. during this period. Both gentlemen have served on the Park Advisory Committee during a time where our park system has changed dramatically. Neighborhood parks have been upgraded, athletic playfields improved, Lakefront Park remodeled and a new Library I Resource Center constructed. Each of these actions are some of the most significant improvements our community has experienced. Planning Commission: Dick Kuykendall has served on the Planning Commission from 1994 to 1999. During Dick's years of service significant development petitions have been considered. The Planning Commission has also reviewed and adopted new ordinances such as the Tree Preservation ordinance, and Zoning Ordinance. City Councilmembers Dave Wuellner - Dave has been a resident and business owner of Prior Lake for many years. He was appointed to the City Council in 1998. Tom Kedrowski - Tom has lived in Prior Lake for the past 16 years and has a long-standing commitment to public service in Prior Lake. In addition to serving two full terms on the City Council, he has also served on the City's Planning Commission, Annexation Task Force, MVTA, and Economic Development Authority. Tom also contributes his time as a member of the the church council at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, and has served as a past board member of the Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce. Citv Staff Dennis Left - Dennis has been a Prior Lake Police Officer for 27 years. Denny has been instrumental in the DARE program for Prior Lake youth.
