Attached are the applications from each of the candidates for Council information. All three candidates possess desirable attributes and skills which would be beneficial to the Parks Advisory Committee. The interview committee recommends the appointment of Sandi Fleck for the following reasons: (1) She has been involved with the Parks and Recreation Department for the past five and a half years through participation by her children in the Tot Lot and Summer Playground programs. (2) She has an understanding of the Prior Lake park system, including both neighborhood and community parks, and the role and function of each. (3) The PAC is in the 'process of examining the role the committee and department should play in programming activities for youths aged 13 - 16 and will benefit from Ms. Fleck's knowledge and ideas concerning this issue. (4) She has demonstrated her interest in the position by keeping up to date with the current issues facing the PAC, including both Recreation programming as well as Park development. Each of the other candidates should be encouraged to consider applying for other advisory committee openings given their expertise and background. 162V.~fsij)9~1lWeI.MOOesota 55372-1714 / Ph, (612) 447-4230 / Fax (612) 447-4245 AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER ALTERNATIVES: (1) Motion and Second as part of the Consent Agenda concurring with the recommendation of the interview committee and appointing Sandi Fleck to serve out the remainder of the vacant position on the Parks Advisory Committee through October 30, 2001.
