CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
MAY 17, 1999
4E
JANET RINGBERG, LICENSE CLERK
CONSIDER APPROVAL OF TEMPORARY 3.2 NON-
INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE FOR THE PRIOR LAKE
LIONS CLUB
Cu"entCucumsfflnces
The Prior Lake Lions Club is requesting a temporary 3.2 non-
intoxicating liquor license in order to sell 3.2 beer at a pro wrestling
event they are organizing. This event will be held on Saturday, July
24, 1999 in the Prior Lake VFW parking lot. The Lions Club plans to
sell beer from 4 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
The Issues
The Prior Lake Lions Club is requesting a waiver of the $25.00
temporary license fee as they are a non-profit organization. The City
Council has waived fees for similar fund raisers such as Lakefront
Days and Aprilfest.
The Prior Lake Lions Club has completed the application and provided
the City with proof of liquor liability insurance. The Prior Lake Police
Department is working with the Lions Club to assure the event is
planned considering public safety concerns. The Police Department
finds no reason for denial of the license.
The City Council has the following alternatives:
1. Approve the temporary 3.2 non-intoxicating liquor license and
waive the $25.00 license fee.
2. Approve the license request but not the fee waiver request.
3. Deny the liquor license request.
Staff recommends Council approve the temporary 3.2 liquor license
and the fee waiver quest for the Prior Lake Lions Club.
