TH13 INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT OPTIONS AND
NEIGHBORHOOD INPUT MEETINGS

History
The City Council and community in general have expressed concerns
about the safety at key intersections along Trunk Highway 13. The
accident history at certain intersections, the anticipated increase in traffic
volumes and the desire to provide safe and adequate ingress and egress
to our neighborhoods and businesses is the genesis for intersection
improvement concerns. Actual intersection improvements cannot be
undertaken until they are included and financed through our five-year
Capital Improvement Programs (timetable included). To plan for
intersection improvements, the City Council previously approved a TH13
Long-Term Access and Development Plan. The Council has also directed
the staff to analyze each key intersection and share our findings.
Current Circumstances
At the February 22, 1999 City Council Work Session, Public Works
Director Greg IIkka and representatives of WSB Consultants reviewed
their findings regarding preliminary intersection alternatives for the
following:
(1) Frontage Roads: Timothy to Rutgers and Rutgers to Harbor Place
(2) Commerce/Boudin Intersection
(3) 150th Street
(4) CSAH 23 and 170th
The purpose of this agenda item is to share our preliminary findings so
interested persons can begin to think about the alternatives available
together with their advantages, disadvantages and estimated costs.
Conclusion
Preliminary results of intersection alternatives for services roads along
CSAH42, Commerce/Boudin, 150th and CSAH 23 will be summarized
and the schedule for neighborhood input meetings shared (attached).
