HomeMy WebLinkAbout10A - Acquisition of two 1999 Crown Victoria Police Vehicles MEETING DATE: AGENDA #: PREPARED BY: AGENDA ITEM: DISCUSSION: AL TERNA TIVES: RECOMMENDED MOTION: REVIEWED BY: CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT FEBRUARY 1, 1999 lOA BILL O'ROURKE, CHIEF OF POLICE CONSIDER APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION 99-XX AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) 1999 FORD CROWN VICTORIA SQUAD CARS. The Police Department requests the Council's approval to order squad cars that have been approved and adopted in the 1999 Budget. Historv Each year, with the purchase of new squads, the Police Department rotates two of it's older models to other City departments; i.e., Building Inspections and Engineering, thus getting extended use from the vehicles and ensuring dependability and reliability of our primary emergency response vehicles. Once again this year, Superior Ford has received the Government bid for police vehicles. Current circumstances The approval of this purchase will allow the Police Department to rotate a squad with nearly 1 00,000 miles and another with approximately 90,000 miles out of police service for use by other city departments (both figures estimates at time of expected delivery in May '99). Financial Impact The new Ford Crown Victorias are $20,725.00 each, for a total of $41,450.00. The Department budget contains $45,000.00 for the two vehicles. 1. Adopt Resolution 99-XX 2.
