MICHAEL PETERSON, COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
AGENDA ITEM:
COMMUNICATIONS UPDATE
PRESENTATION:
Prior Lake will achieve its 2030 Vision and Strategic Plan if people are aware of
and actively involved in the community's plans and partnerships. This active
participation is necessary to make great things happen. Recognizing that all
efforts outlined in the plan are enhanced through good communications, a
Communication Vision Element was added to the 2030 Vision and Strategic Plan
in 2003.
Generally speaking, the responsibility of the communications coordinator
includes coordinating and implementing the City's marketing plan, promoting the
image of the City and enhancing communication and public information methods
that support our commitment to an open and responsible government.
More specifically, objectives for the position are set forth in the Communication
Element of the 2030 Vision and Strategic Plan with a major emphasis on three of
our largest communications vehicles: the Website, Print and Email, and Cable
TV (see attached).
I will provide the City Council with a report regarding the historical background
about the communications department and duties; specifics about ongoing work
related to the City's website, print, email and cable TV initiatives, objectives and
goals relating to the 2030 Vision and Strategic Plan; an analysis of city
demographics and success of current initiatives, and our plan for enhancing
communications in the near future.
