JANET RINGBERG, LICENSE CLERK
CONSIDER APPROVAL OF TEMPORARY 3.2 NON-
INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE FOR THE CHURCH OF
ST. MICHAEL APRILFEST
Current Circumstances
The Church of St. Michael is requesting a Temporary 3.2 Non-
Intoxicating Liquor license in order to sell 3.2 beer at their annual
Aprilfest fund-raising celebration. This event will take place on
Saturday, April 24, 1999 and Sunday, April 25, 1999. St. Michael's
has also requested and been granted a temporary gambling permit for
this event.
The Issues
The organizers of Aprilfest have been informed of the recent changes
in the City of Prior Lake liquor ordinance. They have indicated they
will comply with the new ordinance. The Aprilfest tent will be located
on school property, in the same location as previous years. This is in
conformance with the new ordinance provisions.
St. Michael's has completed the application, paid the $25.00
application fee and provided the city with proof of dramshop insurance
through the Archdiocese of Minneapolis/St. Paul. the Prior Lake
Police Department has reported no problems with past Temporary 3.2
Liquor Licenses issued to the Church of St. Michael.
The City Council has the following alternatives:
1. Approve the Temporary 3.2 Non-Intoxicating Liquor license for the
Church ofSt. Michael's Aprilfest.
2. Deny the liquor license request.
Staff recommends Council approve the Temporary 3.2 Liquor License
request for the Chu of St. Michael.
