STAFF AGENDA REPORT
;~K BOYLES, CITY MANAGEfix.:!;Y
1996 AND FIRST HALF 1997 DIRECTIVES, STATUS
JULY 21,1997
In an effort to assure that the City Council's desires are
fulfilled, the staff maintains a list of "Directives" for
completion. The Council periodically reviews these
directives. That is the purpose of this agenda item.
In an effort to "close out" the 1996 Directives, a complete
list of all 1996 Directives is attached. Those which are
shown in bold have changed status from the last time you
reviewed them.
Three 1996 Directives remain undone. The first is
acquisition of property for the second fire station site. An
offer is being prepared with the assistance of the City
Attorney. I expect that this acquisition should be
completed before the end of this year, and hopefully
sooner. The second incomplete directive has to do with the
revised zoning ordinance. Drafts of the new zoning
ordinance are now prepared for distribution. The Planning
Commission is in the process of conducting meetings to
review its contents. Public Hearings are to be scheduled
for August with final adoption by the City Council in
October. The third and final incomplete directive has to do
with preparing a policy for naming of Parks, Streets, and
Public Buildings. At present, we are collecting policies
from other metropolitan area communities and expect to
provide a Policy Draft to the Council at the September 15
meeting.
1997 Directives to Date are shown on the last three pages.
There are numerous items which are in process. If
Councilmembers have questions, either about the status of
any of the incomplete Directives or their proposed
completion date, it would be appropriate to discuss those
questions at the Council meeting.
