TO RETIRING POLICE CHIEF DICK POWELL.

Dick Powell has been Police Chief at the City of Prior Lake
since October 1, 1974. During that 22 plus years, the
department has grown from a few officers to a full-fledged
department of 24 persons serving the needs of a
developing community of more than 13,000. During his
years of service to the City, Dick Powell has been
instrumental in a number of important programs.
A few examples include:
· Drug Awareness Resistance Education
(D.A.R.E.)
· School Liasion Officer Program
· Strong Resident and Business Liason Efforts
· Cops Fast Program for Mdewakanton Dakotah
Community
These are but a few of Dick's many accomplishments. It is
only fitting that the City Council recognize his many
contributions on the eve of his retirement by the
presentation of a plaque by Mayor Andren. Dick's last
active day as Prior Lake Police Chief is Friday, June 6,
1997.
