LOCAL 100 REPRESENTING POLICE OFFICERS DECEMBER 15, 1997 The Law Enforcement Labor Services, Inc. Local 100 bargaining unit represents all of the Police Officers of the City of Prior Lake. This contract represents the results of the "reopener" bargaining envisioned by the contract approved by the City Council this past April. The only item included in the "reopener" for 1998 is health insurance contributions. The City's negotiating team, consisting of myself and Labor Attorney John Roszak have drafted an agreement to satisfy the "reopener" item for 1998 in accordance with the Public Employee Labor Relations Act (PELRA) and with the labor agreement ratified by the City Council this past April. The City has already settled on health insurance contributions for AFSCME for 1998. That amount is $415 per month for family coverage. The City offered and the Union has accepted the same monthly contribution for health insurance in 1998. This represents a $10 increase from 1997 when the City contributed $405 per month. An agreement reflecting the agreed upon increase is attached for City Council approval. Labor Agreements typically do not provide complete satisfaction to either party. However, this particular issue was not very controversial, as a fair offer was made and accepted. This Agreement, therefore, represents an equitable conclusion of bargaining which allows us the opportunity to focus upon the issues at hand, which are considerable in our growing community. 16200 Eagle Creek Ave. S.E., Prior Lake, Minnesota 55372-1714 / Ph.
