AS PER YOUR REQUEST, I VIEWED THE BUILDING SITE ON THE ABOVE
REFERENCED PROJECT AT 8:30 A.M. ON JUNE 01, 1995.
THIS INSPECTION WAS MADE TO EVALUATE THE CONCEPT OF LOWERING THE
FOOTINGS FOUR FEET AND CHANGING THE BUILDING DESIGN FROM A SLAB ON
GRADE TO A FULL BASEMENT DESIGN.
SOME STANDING WATER IS PRESENT AT THE WEST SIDE OF THE EXCAVATION.
MADE SEVERAL PROBES WITH A HAND AUGER. STANDING WATER AT THE NORTHWEST
CORNER HAD NOT BEEN PUMPED AND APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED AS
THE WATER TABLE LEVEL. THE SOILS BELOW THE WATER WERE FIRM. THE
CONTRACTOR PROVIDED A LASER LEVEL TO CHECK ELEVATIONS. THIS AREA WILL
HAVE A SEPARATION OF 3 FEET BETWEEN THE WATER AND THE BOTTOM OF THE
FOOTING AND A 4 FOOT SEPARATION BETWEEN THE WATER AND THE BASEMENT
FLOOR.
MADE SEVERAL PROBES ALONG THE FOOTING LINES. THE CLAY LOAM SOILS
WERE FIRM EXCEPT FOR AN AREA ALONG THE NORTH FOOTING. THIS AREA WILL
BE EXCAVATED AN ADDITIONAL FOOT TO REMOVE THE MEDIUM FIRM SOIL AND
PROVIDE AT LEAST ONE FOOT OF FILL BELOW THE FOOTINGS.
THE FILL IS TO BE PIT RUN GRAVEL FROM THE PEARSON PIT. COMPACTION
AND TESTING OF THE BACKFILL SOILS IS REQUIRED.
THIS IS THE FINAL INSPECTION FOR THIS TRIPLEX PAD. IN MY OPINION,
THE PAD IS SUITABLE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF STRUCTURE WITH A FULL
(8 FT) BASEMENT.

THE CONTRACTOR HAD SUBSTANTIALLY
BUILDING PAD FOR THE SOUTH BUILDING.
ABOUT 12 FEET BELOW FLOOR AT THE WEST
EAST SIDE.
COMPLETED THE EXCAVATION OF THE
THE EXCAVATION WAS CARRIED TO
SIDE AND ABOUT 7 FEET ON THE
MADE SEVERAL PROBES WITH A HAND AUGER. THE BASE SOIL WAS FIRM
IN ALL AREAS PROBED. THIS SOIL RANGED FROM A CLAY LOAM TO SILTY CLAY
LOAM SOIL.
A SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER CONTINUES TO SEEP INTO THE EXCAVATION FROM
THE SILTY LAYER NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE EXCAVATION. THESE AREAS WILL
HAVE SUBSTANTIAL ( 8 FEET ) FILL UNDER THE FOOTINGS.
