6.0 Evaluation Program
Success of a wellhead and source water protection plan must be evaluated routinely to determine the
effectiveness of the plan in terms of accomplishment of goals. Monitoring and evaluation measures
to ensure implementation and determine effectiveness of the management strategies are part of this
Plan.
Evaluation activities discussed in this Section will:
. Track the implementation of the objectives, activities, and tasks discussed above in
Section 5.0.
. Determine the effectiveness of specific management strategies for the protection of the Prior
Lake municipal water supply.
. Identify possible changes to the management strategies to improve effectiveness.
. Determine the adequacy of financial resources and staff availability to perform and
implement the management strategies planned each year.
The City of Prior Lake will continue to cooperate with the MDH in the annual monitoring of the
City's municipal water supply to determine if the management strategies presented in this Plan are
having a positive effect on water quality and to identify any water quality problems that may arise
and need to be addressed.
The Prior Lake Wellhead Protection Manager will provide an annual report to the City Council,
during the normal budget planning process, summarizing the progress in implementing the
management strategies and objectives in this Plan. The annual report will also present the results of
the water quality monitoring of the City's municipal water supply. The report will be completed
using the MDH Wellhead Protection Program Evaluation form. A copy of the report will be sent to
the MDH Source Water Protection Unit in St. Paul. The City will maintain a copy of the report in its
Wellhead Protection file. The intent ofthe annual reports is to compile comprehensive
documentation of the implementation of the source management strategies for use when the City
updates or revises this Plan. As specified by the Wellhead Protection Rules, this Plan will be
updated at least every 10 years or more often as required due to expansion of the municipal water
supply system.
