7.0 Alternative Water Supply Contingency Strategy
The purpose of a contingency plan is to establish, provide, and keep updated certain emergency
response procedures and information for the public water supply, which may become vital in the
event of a partial or total loss of public water supply services as a result of natural disaster, chemical
contamination, civil disorder, or human-caused disruptions.
In 2006, the City of Prior Lake completed its Water Emergency and Conservation Plan (Prior Lake,
2006a). The Water Emergency and Conservation Plan was been adopted by the City Council on
July 17,2006. As required, the Water Emergency and Conservation Plan was submitted to the
MDNR Division of Waters - Appropriation Permit Program and the Metropolitan Council for review
and approval. The City was awaiting approval of the Water Emergency and Conservation Plan as
this Part 2 Wellhead Protection Plan was being prepared. Copies of the Water Emergency and
Conservation Plan are available from the City.
