Structural Notes:
I. DesigD Loads as follows:
a. Lateral Earth Pressure: 150 psf(as5\lffied)
b. Wind load: 90 mph base with exposure C conditions (lBC)
c. Live load: 35 psf snOW base
d. Assumed Soil Bearing: 1 500 psf
2. Site PreparaOon:
a. All topsoil. organic material, and debris shalt be rernoved from the constrUCtion
site.
b. Footings are to bear on undisturbed soil or engineered type fill.
c. Backfill shall be a wen~graded gravel or sand fin.
d Footings have been deSlgned based on an asSUlTled soil bearing of 1500 psf.
e. Erosion control steps for constrUction and backfilling shall be as per the local
building agency requirements.
f. ContraCtor shall be prepared to pump the site and perform any other dewBlCring
if a high water table is encountered.
3 _ CODcrete SpeciftcatiOIlS:
a Concrete to be 3000 psi compressive strength at 28 days for footings and
foundations.
b. Reinforcement to be ASTM A615 Grade 40 defonned bar or equivalent.
c. Lap lengths for reinforcement unless otherwise specified to be 40 bar diameters.
d. All concrete to have S~ 7% air entrainment by volwne. Superplastici:r.er will be
allowed with the approyal of the design engineer.
e. All reinforcing placement and concrete placement to conform to the latest
edition oftbe American Concrete Institute.
g. Concrete testing and inspection is by others
h. Aluminum conduit and pipe is not permitted in concrete foundations.
4. Steel SpecificatioDs:
a. An structural steel tubing to be ASTM ASOO Grade B, Fy ~ 46 ksi or equivalent
b. All steel pipe to be ASTM A50 1 Fy;= 36 ksi or ASTM AS3, Types E or S,
Gntde B.
c. All welding to be as per A WS specification using E60XX. or E10X}(
electrodes. AU welds to be fiUet type unless otherwise noted.
e. If welded steel pipe is used it is to be of ASTM A36 steel, A-S72 Grade 42 or
Grade 50 steel or equivalent.
s. CeDeral Notes:
a. Weep boles shall be drilled into the bottom of the column for release of moisture
b. Paint and/or other treatment to the pipe exposed to the elements as by the sign
contractor.
c. An sigll framing and sigll coMection to the column and/or foundation is by
others.
d. All electrical, mechanical, architectUral. and landscaping is by others.
c. All design is in accordance to the 2000 Intemalional Building Code-
