TRESSPLY"E"
since 1895
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
StressPly -E" featurea a unique combination
of rubber modified asphalt together with selected
reinforcement layers. The result is a high strength,
puncture and fatigue resistant. rubber modified
membrane. designed for applica110n as the water-
proofing and reinforcement layer of a modified
built-up roofing system. It provides long-term per-
formance in all types of ne\N or retrofit construction
uses.
StressPly "E" Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene. Sty_
rene-lsoprene-Styrene, and Ethylene-Styrene
(SBS+SIS+ES) rubber modified membrane ut{-
lizes Kevfar fibers and a dual polyester and fiber~
glass combination reinforcement that offers the
Inherent strength and heat stability cr fiberglass
along with the ability of polyester to conform.
PRODUCTADVANTAGES
Unmatched Rubber Technology .. To the
already proven performance advantages of SBS
and SIS rubbers, Garland has Incorporated ES
(Ethylene-Styrene}, manufactured with Dow's
INSITETJ4 eatalystlachn%gy, to give the StressPly
"E" mem~rane unmatched durability. The SBS
rubber affords superior low temperature flexibility
and long-term weathering characterlsti~. The
SIS rubber dramatlcalIy increases the overall rife
expectancy of the modified membrane. When SBS
and SIS are oombined v.ith Dow's ES, which
provides improved heat stability and UV resis-
tance, the result is a superior high performance
roof membrane.
Security In Multi-Ply Construction _
SfTessPly -E- functions as the top component in a
multi-ply roof system. tt combines the proven
performance of a multl-ply configuration together
with the strength, nexlbility, and elongation of an
elastomeric roof sys1em. This higt'l performance
roofing system represents a concerted develop-
ment effort by Garland researchers combined with
years of practical problem-solving field experience_
Superior Strength - The StressPly "e" mem-
bran~ is reinforced with one layer oftiberglass and
one layer of polyester, The superior strength pro-
vided by the Kevlar fibers and the dual fiberglass
and polyesbllr combination, resists the movement
created by toclay's modern buildings. In addition,
Stress Ply ~E" provides tensile strength in excess of
500 pounds per inch in 'the machine and cross
machine direction. This translates to long 'term
resistance to !plits and tears in the completed
StressPly "E" roof system.
USES
StressPly -E" can be used in conjunction with
other HPR products, as well as with conventional
glass base sheets or fiberglass felt underlayment.
Spe<::ifications for hot or cord applied roofing $Ys-
tems are available.
APPUCATION
StressPly "E- can be used with ASTM D~312.
Type "' or IV asphalt. Garland's HPR AIf-Temp
Asp/lattormxfrfiedasphalt TwopfiesofASTM 0..2178,
Type IV orVr fiberglass felt are solidly bonded to the
approved substrate. Stress Ply "e" is then solidly
bonded to th@se base layers with mopping asphalt.
Stress Ply "e" can also be applied in Garland's
cold applied Weatherking adhesIve. Two layers of
heavy duty Garland approved ASTM D-4601, Type
" base SheAts are applied in Weatherking to the
approved substrate. StressPly "EM is then adhered
to these base layers with W&atherking adhesive.

PR PREMIUM GLASFELT
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
HPR Premium Glasfelt is an asphalt coated,
fiberglass mat used as a ply sheet in the construc-
tion of high-performance built-up roofs. HPR Pre-
mium Glasfelt, an ASTM 0-2178, Type VI felt,
exhibits 35% greater tensile strength than conven-
tional Type IV glass felts. Two plies of HPR Pre-
mium Glasfelt. used in conjunction with any Gar-
land HPR membrane, produce a roof system with
significantly greater tensile strength and thermal
shock resistance than conventional Type IV glass
felts. In the manufacturing process, a porous sheet
of unifonnly distributed glass fibers are bonded
with a resinous binder and uniformly coated with
asphalt.
PRODUCTADVANTAGES
Designed For Today'~ More Demanding
Roofing NMds . Today. roofs are larger and
flatter. The incidence of thermal shock damage has
increased because of the popularity of lightweight
metal deok9, sophisticated heating and air condi-
tioning systems and increased insulation. As mod-
em engineering pradlces have imposed greater
d~mands upon roof system perfonnance, the qYal-
ity of conventional roofing paper has deteriorated.
HPR Premium Glasfelt put an end to the "quality
slide.. They have the stren~th and flexibility to
measure up to today's mom demanding requira-
ments.
A Better Roofing Felt - HPR Premium
Glasfelt, by nature ofthe manufacturing process.
is uniformly porous.. Interply asphalt moppings
readily penetrate adjacent feJt layers to insure
continuous ply adhesion.. In addition. the felfs
natural porosity minimizes tho negative effects of
trapped moisture and blistering.
Inorganic, Rot-Proof Prol~ion. HPR Pre-
mium Glasfelt are inorganic, rot-proof roofing felts.
They will not wick or absortl moisture. As a result,
the risk oHell ply delamination is minimized and a
stronger. more secure roof assembly Is produced.
USES
HPR Premium Glasfelt can be used in 'con-
junction with Garland's HPR AII-T~rnp Asphalt.
conventional asphalt. or modified asphalt to create
a built-up roof. In addition, tINo or more layers of
HPR Premium Glasfelt serve as the underlayment
for any Garland HPR Modi1'led Bitumen RoofSys-
tern.
