PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA 55372 TRIBAL OFFICE: 612-445-8900 - FAX: 612-445-8906 Susan T otenhagen Secretary/Treasurer September 8, 1997 ~opy Minnesota Dept. of Transportation c/o Mr. Charlie Hudrlik District Traffic Engineer Traffic Services Metro Division 2055 N. Lillan Drive Golden Valley, MN 55422 SUBJECT: ADDITION GUIDE & INFORMATION SIGNING ON TRUNK HIGHWAY 169 Dear Mr. Hudrlik: The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community recently discussed the current traffic congestion that is occurring at Scott County Road 83/42 intersection. A possible solution to the traffic congestion consists of several options, however, the one option that the Community would like the Minnesota Department of Transportation to consider would be signage of multiple routes from the 169 Bypass. The effect of providing multiple roads to our destination facility would provide our customers various ways to arrive, thus dispersing vehicle traffic along several north/south transportation corridors in the Scott County Road System. For your consideration, I have enclosed the current signage plan approved by the department and paid for by Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. Also, I have provided a map of Scott County road system highlighting the Community's desired options. Although I do not have a letter from Brad Larson, the County Engineer and Associate County Administration in charge of Public Works and Planning, I have talked to him regarding this request. Brad's initial reaction, and without detailed review, are incorporated in the proposed option attached. Furthermore, should the Minnesota Department of Transportation approve a signage addition, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community is fully aware that all costs for design, construction, and administration of the project shall be paid by the Community. 0': R21 W 1101 Z I'- C\I I- .Y:~<:~\::~"~''''~'- ,":~. ~ - '.:'~:.:~}" .:_~:~~~,- ,,_:_.-.~_:;f-:"'~-:{'~~~~$~:t~f :~~~~'jt*i~~ ~.-" ..Shakopee" -.-.",.. a:1 lj~3 I 2 ~:":'j!-:~~5j)'/i'~~'~~(~l: I'~ . .
