CALL TO ORDER The Lake Advisory Committee meeting was called to order on Wednesday, June 19, 1996 at 6:44 p.m. Members present: Chair Jody Stroh, Marianne Breitbach, Tom Kearney, Doug Larson, Sally Schmidt and Rick Warner. Others present were Water Resources Coordinator Lani Leichty. II. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING The first item on the agenda was to approve the Minutes of the meeting for May 15, 1996. -- MOTION BY KEARNEY, SECONDED BY WARNER TO APPROVE THE MAY 15, 1996 MINUTES. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. III. MANAGEMENT OF EURASIAN MILFOIL Treatment of mil foil was discussed. Treatment areas for 1997 will be looked at in further detail during the winter months to make sure that "the general public as whole will receive benefit" for those areas being treated. It was mentioned that mapping of milfoil was 50% done for Lower Prior and that mil foil was spotted again in Upper Prior in increased abundance. The Joint Powers Agreement (JP A) with the watershed district has not been approved yet by the city council. Until this is done, invoices will not be paid by the watershed. The JP A is scheduled, again, to be on the July 1 rst consent agenda. IV. PUBLIC EDUCATION The educational brochure was discussed and members chose a topic to research and write about. The topics were distributed as follows: composting, Doug Larson; fertilizing, Marianne Breitbach; aquascaping, Sally Schmidt; water use, Rick Warner; hazard waste disposal, Jody Stroh; and wetland benefits, Tom Kearney. NEW BUSINESS Kearney updated the committee on what he learned at the last advisory meeting he attended for the watershed district. He mentioned that it was an educational experience. Breitbach mentioned that she would like to invite a water resources representative from her company to talk to the committee about channel diversion. Members from the watershed will also be invited to this presentation when it occurs. VII. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at approximately 8:05 p.m. MOTION BY WARNER, SECONDED BY BREITBACH TO ADJOURN THE MEETING. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
