Discussion of police activity over the last week was lead by Lt Hofstad. Randy described a weekend party which was reported to the PD by neighbors that resulted in using the social host ordinance and the citation of a large number of juveniles for underage consumption. One of the youth was later hospitalized as she attempted to gain access to Mystic Lake using a fake ID. Both of the parents at the home hosting the underage drinking denied there was alcohol being served, and forced the officers to obtain a warrant to enter the premises. Even after a 3 hour delay, the officers found many youth still on the premises were intoxicated. Both parents were cited under the social host ordinance. In researching the activity on the Prior Lake American web site, we discovered the paper has added a live feed from the Scott County dispatch to monitor police radio activity Lt Hofstad detailed dispatch procedures for the committee members present. He believes that the live feed of the police scanner does not best serve the community interests as in the weekend activity the police action could have been monitored in the home. Also discussed means to raise awareness of the police dept roles and facilities in the city. Committee discussed an opportunity to prepare a video similar to the ‘protecting our youth’ piece done last year. Review of the comments recorded at the council meeting. The members present reviewed the latest advisory committee bylaws to determine of a high school student could be added to the committee. This proposal to add a student to the committee was given green light by council. The members believe that a junior would be ideal, thereby permitting the student to participate during the entire calendar th year. The CSAC committee presently has 6 members meaning, under the bylaws, we could add a 7 member. The student must be a Prior Lake resident. The committee plans to proceed with the solicitation of a student member who must go through the application process… Link of the CE bullying class on the city web site and email. Let Mike P know about this to coordinate. Committee plans to split into small groups to flesh out the 2 new objective areas… residential and property crimes and traffic/driving safety. PD already planning to leave door knockers notice about garage doors open over night. Also work with American about crime tips relating to property crimes. Committee members should prepare some ideas to bring along. Day time burglaries about kicking in doors and then moving car into garage to empty contents Next meeting we plan to split into 2 groups to flesh out the 2 new objectives
