MINUTES
Traffic Safety Committee
December 14th, 2004
3:00 pm
Issues:
1. Five Hawks/Priorwood Intersection
Scott O. feels this is a dangerous intersection, people speed down
the hill. The worst times are from 3pm-7pm. He is also concerned about a blind driveway and is requesting a crosswalk. Mak talked with Dan Mehleis at school district for more info.
Costs for painting and signing crosswalk are minimal. Staff will install signs (including 150ft advance warning signs) up this winter and will plan to paint the crosswalks in the spring.
2. Willows Beach Area (the aftermath!)
Trees obstruct sight distance problem at Willow Beach Street/Trail intersection. Trees taken down and new ones placed farther from road.
There was an accident shortly AFTER trees down and the homeowner with the removed trees wants a street light there because she feels it is too dark and an unsafe intersection. Mak
will check with police on accidents at the intersection. Police to monitor the area and speeds. Mak to send copy of street light policy to the requestor.
3. Speeding on 150th Street
Two
dogs have been killed because of speeding and lack of sight distance over hill. Resident is requesting to lower speed limit. I told her that would not solve her problem. (85th percentile
speed is 41.62 mph) Two additional emails about the speeding on 150th since we last talked. How is enforcement going?
Periodic patrol of area
Quote drivers manual for stopping/yielding
Right
turn lanes added, recently improved
Warrants not met for signal light
Mak to check accident history
