HomeMy WebLinkAbout06 12 14 CSAC MinutesCommunity Safety Advisory Committee June 12, 2014 Meeting Minutes Attending: Pat Dougherty, Linda Ringstad, Betsy Jader, Janine Alcorn, Woody Spitzmueller, PLPD Randy Hofstad, Mike McGuire Absent: Emily Gulstad, Gina Gertner Meeting called to order at 4:05 pm by Pat. Approval of Agenda: Motion by Janine; 2nd by Linda. Approval Unanimous. Approval of May Minutes: Motion by Linda; 2nd by Betsy. Approval Unanimous Old business: Committee discussed current list of objectives. Renumbered and prioritized the objectives based on most recent city survey results. New business: Lt Hofstad discussed state wide ‘toward zero death’ campaign. The spring campaign resulted in some 24000 stops statewide with a number of vehicle forfeitures. Randy also noted that the PLPD has hired two new police officers. They wrap up their training program in June. Once these new officers are sworn in the department will be fully staffed. Also a significant number of drivers cited for seat belt violation. Linda mentioned that the Savage Commuity Education has partnered with the Savage PD for a ‘Know the Truth’ (KTT) campaign to combat substance abuse in concert with MN Teen Challenge. Program planned on Thursday, 2 October 2014 at the PLSHS. The committee will offer assistance as may be requested. Motion: Janine moved that the CSAC assist with event in partnership with KTT; Woody 2nd: unanimous approval. Discussed the annual Neighborhood Night Out; now termed ‘Night to Unite’. Always scheduled on the first Tuesday in August. Planned by the PLPD for Tuesday, 5 August 2014. Action: Frank Boyles has requested that CSAC focus on specific safety issues surfaced in resident survey. Meeting adjourned at 5:15 PM. Motion by Woody, 2nd by Pat. Unanimous approval.
