Randy reviewed results of Toward Zero Death DWI focus during the holiday season. Statewide some
2500 motorists were arrested for drunk driving. This represented an increase of some 100 drivers over the
same period in 2013. DWI arrests in the state have seen a dramatic reduction over the last 10 years. In
2006 there were almost 42,000 DWI arrests in the state. During the 2014 campaign the east metro was the
most active with 168 arrests although there were 100 arrests by the Minneapolis PD and another 153 in
the west metro so the combined total would be represent the most arrests.
Randy mentioned that there is a retirement party planned for Chief O’Rourke on Saturday, 7 February at
Fongs Resturant stating at 3PM. CSAC members were invited to attend.
Reviewed the 2040 City of Prior Lake Vision and Strategic Plan in the area of community health and
safety. Discussed incorporating vision elements in our committee objectives.
Reviewed a memo written by city manager Frank Boyles which summarized ideas stated by committee
members who recently interviewed to be reappointed to the committee. Once again these ideas will be
discussed for incorporation in the CSAC 2015 Objectives.
New business:
Randy advised the group that Annette Thompson has been assigned as new council liaison to replace
Mike McGuire.
Meeting adjourned at 5:15 PM.
Motion by Linda, 2nd by Pat. Unanimous approval.
