Communications and Technology Advisory Committee
2/2/2015 6:00 PM I Meeting called to order by Chair Dave Elbon
1 . Roll Call
Present were members Jim Anderson, Brett Anderson, Chair David Elbon, Don Breidenbach,Scot Moncur, Erik Juhl, council
liaison Monique Morton and city staff member Mike Peterson. Absent was staff member Kelly Meyer. Member Jessica
Weber arrived around 6:05 pm.

2. Approval of Agenda
2A.Committee approves agenda.Motion by Breidenbach,Second by Moncur.Ayes by B.Anderson,J.Anderson,
Breidenbach, Elbon,Juhl, Moncur and Weber. Motion carries.

3. Approval of Minutes
3A.Committee approves minutes. Motion by Breidenbach,Second byluhl.Ayes by B. Anderson,J. Anderson, Breidenbach,
Elbon,Juhl, Moncur and Weber. Motion carries.
4. New Business
4A.Welcome New Members: Committee members introduced themselves to new committee council liaison Monique
Morton and welcomed her to the group. Morton introduced herself.
4B.Vote Chair and Vice: Committee chair Dave Elbon requested nominations for chair and vice chair. Both Elbon and J.
Anderson were nominated to stay in their roles as Chair and vice Chair, respectively. Motion by Moncur,Second by
Breidenbach.Ayes by B.Anderson,J.Anderson, Breidenbach, Elbon,Juhl, Moncur and Weber. Motion carries.
4C.Cable Tech Announcement: Communications Coordinator Peterson said the cable tech position remains open and that
he hasn't received any applications,yet. He requested if any committee would send candidates his way. Group discussed
options and advertising the position.
5. Old Business
5A.CITYCENTER Marketing Solutions Inc.: Peterson said that a March launch is planned for the City App and Nick Rogosienski
gave a presentation to the committee. Committee members asked questions regarding the app. Weber asked what would
happen if businesses do not get on board. Moncur asked if the city is legally bound in any way should something were to go
wrong with the app. Rogosienski said no. Rogosienski also told committee members to check out CITYSOLUTIONS'Albertville
app for comparison. Elbon asked if notifications could be turned off. Rogosienski said yes.
5B.City Website Redesign Update:Coordinator Peterson said the website is up, and is basically a working website. Requested
feedback from the committee.
5C.Specify Social Media Goals for 2015:Peterson sought clarification regarding the committee's 2015 goal to have more
effective use of social media. Morton said it would help to define the target audience.Juhl said the city should be keeping up a
vibrant use of Facebook. Morton suggested tracking use of Facebook and using that data to improve what is being done.She
added that Facebook does a good job, but focus on how we do some of the messaging. Peterson asked whether he should
come back to the committee with analytics about what we are currently doing. Morton wondered if we could look at leveraging
what other Facebook users "like,"such as the Prior Lake American. Peterson said we will come back with this issue and with
more analytic data.
5D. Mobile Website Brainstorm Session: Peterson requested some mobile website ideas for the next meeting.
6. Announcements
6A: Punxsutawney:Six more weeks of winter was predicted.
