HomeMy WebLinkAbout151215 LAC Minutes 1 4646 Dakota Street SE Prior Lake, MN 55372 LAKES ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES December 15, 2015 CALL TO ORDER: The December 18, 2015 regular meeting of the Lakes Advisory Committee (LAC) was called to order at 4:36 pm. Present were Members Celski and Kallberg, Chair Weninger, City Water Resources Engineer Young, City Council Member Thompson, and Prior Lake-Spring Lake Watershed District board member Breitbach. Vice-Chair Streefland joined the meeting before item 6b was discussed. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MOTION BY KALLBERG, SECOND BY CELSKI, TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER 17, 2015 LAKES ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING, AS REVISED. VOTE Celski Kallberg Shower Streefland Weninger Aye Nay Abstain Absent The motion carried 3-0. HEARINGS: NONE OLD BUSINESS: 5a. Community Outreach Opportunities Young: Presented the staff report for the agenda item. Noted that the list has been updated since the last meeting. Presentation item only; no vote was taken. NEW BUSINESS: 6a. 2015 Year in Review Young: Presented the staff report for the agenda item. Presentation included an overview of 2015 discussion topics, attendance, and membership statistics. Staff thanked the LAC members for donating their time as volunteers for the LAC. December 15, 2015 Lakes Advisory Committee Minutes 2 Presentation item only; no vote was taken. 6b. LAC Member Orientation/Refresher Young: Presented the staff report for the agenda item. The presentation is meant to be a reference for LAC members. Presentation item only; no vote was taken. ANNOUNCEMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE Weninger: Presented a report from the Spring Lake Association. Upcoming meetings include a board meeting (1/25/16, 5:30 pm, Artisan Bistro in Prior Lake), party on the ice (2/13/16), and a raffle drawing (4/10/16). Breitbach: Acknowledged a collaborative effort between City and PLSLWD staff to install water quality projects in the Lower Prior Lake drainage area using state grant funds. Mentioned that the PLSLWD’s Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) would still like to assist in a storm drain stenciling project. Young: The City has a storm drain stenciling kit that groups of volunteers can borrow. Staff provides storm drain maps, instructions, stencils, paint, and safety equipment. Several volunteer groups have done this work in the past including Girl Scouts and members of the Prior Lake High School EcoTeam. Streefland: As a Cub Scout leader he will look into organizing a volunteer event for local Cub Scouts in 2016. He is hoping to have about 20 volunteers. Kallberg: Provided an update as liaison to the CAC. The CAC is starting an awards program for residents. The contact person is Jody See. Will also be looking into the possibility of organizing other local groups that may volunteer for storm drain stenciling projects. ADJOURNMENT: With no further business brought before the LAC, a motion to adjourn was made by KALLBERG and seconded by CELSKI.
