14 April 2016 Meeting Minutes
Attending: Chair Gina Gertner, Pat Dougherty, Woody Spitzmueller, Janine Alcorn, Linda Ringstad,
PLPD Mark Elliot, Councilor Rick Keeney
Absent: Betsy Jader
Meeting called to order at 4:05 pm by Gina.
3. Approval of meeting Agenda: Motion to approve by Woody, 2nd by Pat; approval unanimous.
4. Approval of meeting minutes: February meeting minutes; Motion to approve by Pat, 2nd by Gina,
approval unanimous
5.No hearings scheduled.
6. Old Business:
Approval of CSAC officers will be rescheduled to next meeting where a quorum of members is present.
7. New Business
7a. Chief Elliot spoke about the April TZD campaign focused on distracted driving. Statewide campaign,
but city focus as well. Distracted Driving charges are difficult to prosecute. Minnesota one of the last
states in US to go to 0.08 percent blood alcohol level.
7b. MN Valley Alliance for Battered Women annual ball (fundraiser) at Mystic Lake 29 April 2016. Call
952-873-4214.
7c. 2016 CSAC Activities:
1. Booth a Community Fest.
2. Participate with HS for new student/parent orientation next fall.
3. Prole driving safety letter to local paper.
4. Table at Farmer's Market on Saturday 7 May and at the VFW on Thursdays, starting 19
May. Committee members will advise if they are available to support events.
5. Committee members to advise if they are available to support Nite to Unite and/or
neighborhood parties this summer.
8. Other Business
Chief Elliot provided summary of public safety activities. PD involved in active shooter training
`integrated' with the FD. Integrated approach needs to get injured victims medical assistance as soon as
possible; even while PD pursues a shooter. PLPD has two new sworn officers; and Darcy White promoted
to position of Sargent(replaces Greg Zolner). PLPD will purchase new radar guns with TZD grant funds.
9. Announcements/Correspondance:
1. City to notice property owners of mandatory removal of dead Emerald Ash limbs.
2. City to undertake property(door) numbering on the reservation.
3. Scott County to start an adult drug court in October 2016.
4. SW metro drug enforcement task force investing in video production.
